The purpose of the National Chiayi University (NCYU) Scholarship Program is to enhance educational and academic exchange opportunities between the university and its partner universities.

* In addition, free tuition and accommodation fees are available for overseas exchange students.

Types of Scholarships and Benefits

Our so-called exchange students include students from the university and its partner universities.
1. Monthly stipend:
(1) Undergraduate awarded student: The scholarship offers every qualified student monthly stipends of NT$6,000 per month during his/her study.
(2) Graduate awarded student: The scholarship offers every qualified graduate student monthly stipends of NT$8,000 per month during his/her study.

2. Subsidy of the roundtrip ticket fee will be offered to each recipient:
(1) Subsidy for students from Asia: NT$10,000
(2) Subsidy for students from Australia / New Zealand: NT$15,000
(3) Subsidy for students from Europe, America, or Africa: NT$20,000
Guidelines for International Student Scholarships of National Chiayi University
NCYU Application for International Student Scholarship

Scholarship Offered: Non-Specified
The Guidelines for International Student Scholarships (hereafter the Guidelines) of National ChiayiUniversity (hereafter NCYU or the University) are set up to govern the application and issuing of scholarships available to international students. All matters concerning international student scholarship application and issuing, unless stated otherwise in other higher-ranking regulations, should follow the Guidelines.
1.Financial Sources: The financial sources of international student scholarship include subsidies from Ministry of Education, donations to NCYU, and graduate student fellowship funds, the last of which is limited to master’s and doctoral students.

2.Qualifications:
International students who are admitted into any of the degree programs of NCYU according to the University’s International Admissions Policies and are not granted Taiwan Scholarships are eligible for this scholarship.
From the second year on, the international student must fulfill the following requirements in order to continue to apply for the scholarship:
(1)Completes the minimum amount of credit in course taking (4 credits for graduate students and 9 credits for undergraduate students) in each semester of the previous school year with a GPA of 75 or above (for graduate students) or 70 or above (for undergraduate students). Senior graduate students without course load can submit research papers for review.
(2)Acquires a conduct evaluation result of 80 or above.

3.Content of scholarship:
In addition to tuition waivers, undergraduate students will receive a stipend of NT$6000 each month (12 months a year), while the monthly stipend for graduate students is NT$8000.

4.Quota:
The scholarships granted to international students are dependent on the financial conditions of the University. In principle, the budget for scholarships will be evenly allocated among the colleges.

5.Application:
(1)First year: International students can apply for the international scholarship at the time of applying for admission.
(2)Second year and on: In subsequent years, qualified international students can submit their application forms and transcripts to the Registrar’s Office in early August for applying the international student scholarship.

6.Students receiving the international scholarship are obliged to do part time teaching or research work (2 hours per week) in their department or institute. This scholarship is offered only to students without other kinds of scholarship (for example, special or general scholarships provided by Ministry of Education, doctoral assistantship provided by National Science Council) or salaries.

7.Terms of scholarship:
Scholarships are awarded on a year-by-year basis and annual applications are necessary. The maximum term for undergraduate students is 4 years, for master’s students 2 years, and for doctoral students 4 years. The scholarship will be terminated in case of suspension, withdrawal, or graduation; or if the receiver does not meet the minimum credit, GPA, or conduct requirements specified in Item 3 above.

8.Review Committee:
The International Student Scholarship Review Committee is chaired by the Dean of Academic Affairs and consists of Dean of Research and Development, and the college deans. The Committee will review the applications and make decisions on the final list.

9.Related issues not specified in the Guidelines are subject to the governance of other related regulations or laws of this University.

The Guidelines are effective after approval or revision by the University’s Administration Council.
