The Master Degree is geared towards the extensive activities of the architect as an allrounder both here and abroad. It enables graduates to gain professional membership of the ‘Chamber of Architects’ (UIA guidelines) and to manage their own office as well as work at a senior civil servant level in public authorities.

The Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture is the first of its kind in Taiwan. The program integrates the rationalism of planning analysis and the subjective sensibilities of landscaping design into a holistic training program. It provides students with both technical abilities and fine arts background and leads to a degree as well as expertise in the profession. The four-year curriculum combines planning, design, landscaping, and computing into a framework with our major fields: urban planning, landscape architecture, land development and real estate, and computer aided design application.

Heritage - Heritage programs provide students with the specialized skills required in the assessment, preservation, renovation, and even marketing of older buildings.Students in heritage programs will learn about the process in the preservation and restoration of historical architecture and buildings in Canada.

Planermill - A Planermill Maintenance Technician is a person responsible for the maintenance and planning and execution of all major repairs and overhauls of planers and planermill equipment, including the upkeep of replacement parts and quality standards of planermill output. Planermill technicians usually work in various aspects of the construction, forest, and wood industries or related employment.

Wood Products and Manufacturing - Wood products or Woodworking primarily involves assembling, constructing, designing, finishing, refinishing, repairing, and/or restoring products made of wood, wood substances, or wood substitutes such as cabinets, furniture, interior finishes, millwork, stairs, and various fixtures, among others. Making wood products is a skill in which practitioners must possess precision, particularly in measuring and cutting, and strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities and work habits.

Woodworking – Woodworking primarily involves assembling, constructing, designing, finishing, refinishing, repairing, and/or restoring products made of wood, wood substances, or wood substitutes such as cabinets, furniture, interior finishes, millwork, stairs, and various fixtures, among others. Entry Requirements
An average tarriff point offer is likely to be 230, including a minimum of two subjects at A2 or equivalent.

Mature students without formal qualifications will be considered individually.

Applicants for this course will be invited to present a portfolio to demonstrate their design ability.

Careers
The course is fully recognised and accredited by The Landscape Institute. Landscape architects are employed in a wide range of national, private and public practices in this country and abroad. Successful candidates can also pursue environmental design based careers in related fields, such as landscape management or landscape planning.

Students who graduate from the course at the appropriate level have access to Birmingham City University’s Postgraduate Diploma course in Landscape Architecture, which provides access to graduate membership of The Landscape Institute, the profession’s governing body.

The function of the architect is to produce livable spaces, that is, physical environments adapted to the needs of man in his process of utilizing the natural environment. This task includes the programming, planning, design, construction and administration of these spaces.

Their profession involves planning, supervising, and executing the construction, renovation, rehabilitation and refunctionalization of buildings.

They also design, plan and manage the construction of exterior and interior facilities, and design and manage the execution of landscape completion. Furthermore, they implement the architectural and urban planning of urban settlements.

In their professional relationship with the State they may undertake work as consultants, experts and critics. They are trained to advance the formation of interdisciplinary teams that can provide an integrated answer for their surroundings, so as to ensure their participation in social and technological development in the area of public as well as private administration.

The landscape architect works in the intersecting point between nature, design and human needs where the aim is to form and manage our surroundings in a sustainable and long-term perspective that corresponds to the aims in the European Landscape Convention that Norway has ratified.The study programme is profession-orientated, and a close cooperation with the profession landscape architect is emphasised. The students shall therefore become qualified for working with problem matters relating to landscape architecture both in public and private activities. The tasks are numerous, and vary from detail drawing of building areas, urban spaces and parks to regional planning, investigation tasks and green space management.

Landscape architects strive to establish a balance between our use and enjoyment of the land and the conservation and health of the environment.
