Diploma in Architecture at University College For The Creative Arts

This course will allow you to consolidate your architectural education and training to date. You build on existing skills whilst simultaneously questioning established preconceptions.

An integrated approach to teaching is at the centre of our ethos. Design propositions will be the main focus for your research and explorations into technology and theory will run parallel with your own design work. You will be expected to set your own agenda within the framework of the course and to constantly question yourself and other architectural practice.

Our studios are creative environments that support risk taking. Tutors are seen as implicated collaborators rather than teachers in possession of a set of truths. By the end of your time on the course, you are equipped to adopt critical positions within the profession and wider society, initiate and deliver projects grounded and delivered in design based research and continue a process of learning through experimentation and inquiry.

This ARB and RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) validated course is taught through the School of Architecture at UCA Canterbury; a modern, progressive design environment established more than fifty years ago.
