Majors in Art & Architecture at Lehigh University

In the department of art and architecture, the emphasis is on design. The common foundation of design is enhanced by your one-on-one relationship with faculty and the development of your skills and attainment of knowledge.
About the Majors :
Architecture

Architecture is a pre-professional major that draws upon many of Lehigh’s strengths and resources. Design plays a major role in this program, which requires courses in the history, theory, technology, and broader intellectual context of architecture. If you choose architecture as a career, this major is the best foundation for continued training leading toward the master’s degree.
Art

The art major stresses participation in the studio arts, which have developed the creative abilities of many people throughout their lives. The art major includes applied study in industrial product and graphic design. Lehigh offers instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic communications, printmaking and photography. Ceramics and other arts are offered through the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges.

Master of Landscape Architecture Fees at Lincoln University Canterbury

Master of Landscape Architecture at Lincoln University Canterbury

Students normally take a minimum of six semesters to complete an M.L.A by examination and thesis, or the equivalent in part-time study.

On completing the programme you will have an honours degree in a vocational subject. The programme has been designed to meet the requirements of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). The School will be seeking accreditation from CIAT in 2008/09. Successful students will have a sound understanding of the science and technical aspects of architecture, building design and construction. In addition to the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, the Architectural Technology programme also provides students with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate skills in the following areas:

PG in Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University

The Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture at LJMU is a long standing and nationally respected programme that has been fully validated and externally accredited for over 30 years. The department has well established links with local and national professional bodies and close ties with a number of architectural practices, locally nationally and internationally.

The course is located within a school of art and design alongside a range of other closely related visual arts programmes. This creates a unique and stimulating environment for staff and students providing varied sources of inspiration, the opportunity to share creative ideas between disciplines and access to specialist shared facilities.

The department uses the dynamic city of Liverpool as a test bed for most of its project work whilst referring to international best practice. This is based on a clear philosophy to encourage students and staff to be internationally aware and is supported with a programme of study tours which visit places of relevance to studio design projects. Recently students have visited Barcelona, Copenhagen, Rome, Amsterdam and Berlin.

The PG Diploma in architecture programme is a vocational programme fully validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB) to award RIBA Part 2 exemption to its graduates. Graduates of the programme have the opportunity to convert the award to the MA in Architecture or an MA in Architecture and Urban Design via further study (6 months full time of 12 months part time).

PG in PArchitecture & Urban Design Requirements at Liverpool John Moores University

Each applicant for this MA programme will have been awarded a Diploma in Architecture with RIBA Part 2 exemption or an equivalent qualification from another validated department of architecture. In addition, a subsequent entry requirement will be the successful completion of a selection interview (or equivalent if geographical difficulties exist), during which the history of previous academic achievement of each candidate will be taken into account.
Acceptance to this programme will depend upon significant urban design experience.

PG in PArchitecture & Urban Design Career at Liverpool John Moores University

The MA is aimed at students of architecture who wish to pursue careers in architectural design, architectural research, architectural education, environmental journalism, or to register a specialisation within contemporary architectural practice – all with an accent on city and urban design matters.
