Landscape architects are designers of outdoor spaces at a wide range of scales. Often working with other professions and local communities, they can be involved in anything from roof gardens to city squares to urban regeneration to whole forests. Our course nurtures individual design creativity as you learn through studio-based projects, field visits in the UK and overseas, including projects with real clients. You can also study with one of our partner universities in the EU and USA. Facilities include multimedia studios, state-of-the-art library, specialist workshops and, unique to Leeds, the Landscape Resource Centre. This is situated in a beautiful woodland setting and includes a named plant collection, classroom and horticultural facilities. Graduates can continue studies by joining the Postgraduate Diploma/MA Landscape Architecture.

BA Hons Architecture Career at Leeds Metropolitan University

The degree course is a springboard. Some graduates enter related fields of design, conservation, project management, set design and planning.
To become a fully qualified architect you need to complete the Postgraduate Diploma Course (2 Years). This gives exemption from Part II of the RIBA Examination in Architecture. You will then need to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Professional Practice which gives exemption from Part III.

BA Hons Architecture Requirements at Leeds Metropolitan University

Details: Admission to this course is based primarily on an interview and submission of a portfolio of creative work. Preferred A Level subjects are Mathematics and Art or related subjects. All should be supported by 5 GCSE’s (grade C or above) including English Language, Mathamatics and Art or related subjects. International applicants should possess IELTS 6.5 or above.

BA Hons Architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University

Architecture is about people and making beautiful places for them to be in. Design is the core subject with projects that increase in complexity as the course progresses. It is supported by Architectural Context (the history and theory of Architecture) and Architectural Technology (structural design, environment, services, construction and materials). Communication skills such as freehand and technical drawing, model making, photography, research methods and computer aided design are also covered. There are study visits to European cities. Successful completion of the course gives exemption from Part I of the RIBA Examination in Architecture.

Min. from 6/12 unit awards (incl. SQA Adv. Higher): 120 points
Non-Tariff qualifications: GCSE Maths grade C and English Language grade C, or equivalent is required

Architectural Technologists are professionals occupying a pivotal position in the design and construction of buildings.
