To do so, the Faculty of Architecture offers two majors; Major in Architectural Engineering to train architectural engineers; and Major in Architectural Design to train architects.
【Major in Architectural Engineering】
The Major in Architectural Engineering is subcategorized into: 1) the Architectural Structure Section, to design and interpret safe, economic and beautiful architectural structures; 2) the Architectural Environment & Facilities Section, to plan a construction in an energy-saving and environment-friendly way; and 3) the Building Construction & Construction Management Section, to substantiate the planned construction.
【Major in Architecture】
The Major in Architecture is subcategorized into the Construction and Urban Plannings, Architectural Design, and Registered Architect Theories Sections in order to promote conveniences in human life and various activities and to help people to lead a quality life by understanding the relationship between the man and the environment.

Bachelor of Architecture Degree qualified for the work in the field of architecture (architecture firms, construction, construction, building, etc.). The training provides the necessary basic, methodological and professional knowledge of architecture and the ability to re-skill in a master’s degree. This can be consecutive in the field of architecture or as an additional qualification in a technical related field.
The Bachelor of Interior Architecture is a professional interior design program that prepares students for practice in an interior design or architecture firm.
A holistic design approach is stressed throughout the four-year program. Students are encouraged to consider all factors that influence the design of interior spaces from human behavior, aesthetics, and building technology to the views from windows and doors that penetrate the surrounding architecture.
Beginning Fall 2009:
The Three-Year Bachelor of Interior Architecture Program
Designed with you in mind, Chatham’s Three-Year Bachelor of Interior Architecture prepares you for a career in interior design and sets you in front of the competition by helping you enter the workforce early. And without having to take summer courses.
Chatham’s Three-Year Bachelor in Interior Architecture will save you a full year of tuition and will prepare you for the job market in less time than your competition.
Why is Chatham different?
Chatham’s Interior Architecture program is a professional interior design curriculum that stresses holistic design integrated with sustainability and environmental consciousness. Design studios encourage you to explore the built environment of various building types while lecture courses impart the design knowledge needed to create wonderful spaces. The three-year undergraduate program is fast-paced but requires no summer study, allowing greater opportunities for internships, study abroad and employment.
Be among the first to study in our new building.
You’ll also study in our new facility – Chatham Eastside. Less than a mile from our historic Woodland Road location, Chatham Eastside opens in fall 2009 with state-of-the-art classroom and studio spaces designed specifically for our interior architecture program.
Don’t stop there. Study one more year and earn a master’s degree.
You can also take advantage of our one-year master’s degree program. Stay at Chatham for one more year after you earn your bachelor’s degree and you’ll have an advanced degree that will provide you with career paths in design management, academia or advanced graduate studies.

The tasks that await architectural engineers call for specific training. This is why the choice of the Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree is made in the very first year. During this year, however, the proportion of courses specific to architecture is limited. The transition to the second year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree thus remains possible, and vice versa.
The course offered at the FPMs is based on the dual personality of the architectural engineer: an engineer (ingénieur civil), and therefore both a scientist and an engineer , but also an architect, sensitive to aesthetic, artistic and human considerations.
View or download the first year et de second year( ) programmes for the Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree.
In addition to solid basic scientific education, the architectural specialism is developed through courses relating to construction techniques: structural calculations, production methods and materials, technical aspects of buildings (air conditioning, lighting, thermal insulation etc.). This solid technical knowledge will enable the architectural engineer to be actively involved in major construction projects other than traditional housing.
Admission requirements
The PhD in Architectural Engineering is open to all applicants
graduates in Architectural Engineering, or equivalent- who graduated with honours at least (Mention ‘distinction’)
postgraduates who graduated with honours at least (Mention ‘distinction’) and who were awarded the diploma DEA (diplôme d’études approfondies) in Architectural Engineering by the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons
graduates who were awarded a degree in Architectural Engineering outside Belgium which is equivalent to degrees mentioned above.
All applications are examined by the Academic Board ,which will accept or reject them.
Organisation
The PhD in Applied Sciences is awarded by the FPMs after the public defense of an original dissertation resulting from personal research work. The topic of the dissertation is chosen among all courses related to architecture. The thesis may be written and defended in English.
Please note that doctoral students are not paid by the Faculty
